Supported Ad Placements & Formats

How it works

ContactLevel builds the audience. You run the ads.

Every audience you sync from ContactLevel appears as a custom audience inside the native ad manager of each platform — LinkedIn Campaign Manager, Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads, Reddit Ads, and X Ads. From there, you create campaigns and pick the ad formats and placements you want. The audience just controls who sees them.

That means you get every ad format and placement the platform itself offers. ContactLevel doesn't limit what you can run.

Platforms you can run ContactLevel audiences on

  • LinkedIn Ads
  • Meta — Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, Audience Network
  • Google Ads — Search, Display, YouTube, Gmail, Discover, Performance Max, Demand Gen, Shopping
  • Reddit Ads
  • X (Twitter) Ads

LinkedIn Ads

Your ContactLevel audience syncs to LinkedIn as a Third Party Contact List under Matched Audiences. It's selected at campaign level and applies to every ad in that campaign — regardless of format.

All LinkedIn ad formats support Matched Audiences:

  • Sponsored Content — single image, carousel image, video, document, and click-to-message ads in the LinkedIn feed (desktop and mobile)
  • Thought Leader Ads — promote a post from a personal profile
  • Message Ads — delivered directly into the LinkedIn inbox
  • Conversation Ads — branching, multi-CTA messages
  • Text Ads — small headline + image in the desktop right rail
  • Dynamic Ads — personalized using the viewer's profile (Spotlight, Follower, Job)
  • Event Ads — promote a LinkedIn event
  • Single Job Ads

Placements: LinkedIn feed, LinkedIn inbox, desktop right rail, LinkedIn Audience Network (third-party apps and sites that carry Sponsored Content).

Setup: Using your Audience in LinkedIn Ads Manager.

Meta Ads — Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, Audience Network

Your ContactLevel audience syncs to Meta as a Custom Audience. It's selected at ad-set level. Once selected, every Meta placement becomes available to you — either via Advantage+ Placements (Meta picks automatically) or manual selection.

  • Facebook Stories
  • Facebook Reels
  • Facebook In-Stream Video

Ad formats available across Meta

Setup: Using your Audiences in Meta Ads Manager.

Your ContactLevel audience syncs to Google via Customer Match. Customer Match is supported across every Google campaign type and inventory surface.

Campaign types and placements

  • Search — text ads on Google Search results (targeting or observation mode)
  • Shopping — product listings on Google Search, the Shopping tab, and Display partners
  • Display Network — responsive, image, and HTML5 ads across 3M+ partner sites and apps
  • YouTube — skippable in-stream, non-skippable in-stream (15s), bumper ads (6s), in-feed video, Shorts ads, and the YouTube Masthead
  • Gmail — ads at the top of the Promotions and Social tabs (delivered through Demand Gen campaigns)
  • Discover feed — native ads inside the Google app feed and the YouTube home feed
  • Performance Max — one campaign running across Search, Display, YouTube, Gmail, Discover, Maps, and Shopping with automated asset rotation; your ContactLevel audience works as an audience signal
  • Demand Gen — visual campaigns across YouTube (in-stream, Shorts, feed), Discover, and Gmail

Start in observation mode to see how your audience responds without limiting reach. Switch to targeting mode once you're ready to restrict delivery to that audience only.

Setup: Using your Audiences in Google Ads Manager.

Reddit Ads

Reddit sync is manual export for now (real-time sync is coming). You export the enriched audience as a CSV from ContactLevel and upload it to Reddit Ads Manager as a Custom Audience. The audience is applied at ad group level.

Placements

  • Reddit home feed
  • Post feeds inside subreddits
  • Reddit conversation pages
  • Reddit comments page

Ad formats

Single image, carousel, video, text post, and conversation ads.

Setup: Using your Audiences in Reddit Ads Manager.

X (Twitter) Ads

X is also manual export for now. Export your ContactLevel audience, then upload it under Tools → Audience Manager → Your Data inside X Ads Manager as a Custom Audience. It applies at ad group level.

Placements

  • X home timeline
  • X search results
  • X profile pages
  • Replies and conversation threads

Ad formats

Promoted posts, image ads, vertical video ads, carousel ads, takeover ads, and follower campaigns.

Setup: Using your Audiences in X (Twitter) Ads Manager.

What ContactLevel doesn't do

ContactLevel is the audience layer. It doesn't serve ads. It doesn't set bids. It doesn't control budgets or schedules.

Everything creative, budget, and bidding-related happens inside the native ad manager of each platform. ContactLevel's job is to make sure the right named contacts end up in the custom audience you're targeting — at match rates of 70–90%+ instead of the 30% you get with native uploads.

Tracking still works everywhere

The tracking pixel and cl_audience UTM parameter work on all five platforms — including Reddit and X where audience sync is still manual. So you always get contact-level click and visit tracking, regardless of which platform you run on.
