Using your Audiences in Reddit Ads Manager

How to use your ContactLevel audiences for targeting in Reddit Ads.

Reddit is home to thousands of active, interest-driven communities, making it a powerful platform for B2B advertising. ContactLevel currently supports Reddit through manual export. Real-time syncing is actively being developed.

How Reddit Integration Works

  1. Create and enrich your audience in ContactLevel as usual (Contact Search, CSV Upload, or CRM Sync)

  2. Wait for enrichment to complete

  3. Export your enriched audience from the ContactLevel dashboard as a CSV

  4. Upload the exported file as a Custom Audience in Reddit Ads Manager

ContactLevel's tracking pixel and UTM parameters still provide full contact-level visit tracking for Reddit campaigns, even with manual export.

Step-by-Step Setup in Reddit Ads Manager

Step 1: Upload Your Audience

  1. Open Reddit Ads Manager and navigate to Audiences

  2. Click Create Audience and select Customer List

  3. Upload the CSV file you exported from ContactLevel

  4. Reddit will match the email addresses to Reddit user accounts

Step 2: Use the Audience in a Campaign

  1. Create or edit a campaign in Reddit Ads Manager

  2. In the Audience targeting section, select your uploaded custom audience

  3. Configure the rest of your campaign settings and launch

You can use ContactLevel audiences across Reddit's ad placements, including Feed, Conversation, and Community placements.

Why ContactLevel Audiences Perform Better on Reddit

Native CSV uploads to Reddit typically match only ~2% of your list because Reddit users sign up with personal emails and pseudonymous accounts. Work emails almost never match.

ContactLevel's enrichment maps your contacts to personal identifiers — personal emails, phone numbers, and device IDs — that align with how people actually use Reddit. This drives match rates of 50-70%, a massive improvement over native uploads.

Audience Size & Match Rate Considerations

  • Minimum: 1,000 matched users. Audiences below this threshold may appear as "invalid" in Reddit Ads Manager.

  • Recommended: 5,000-10,000+ matched users for stable delivery and optimization.

  • Processing time: Up to 72 hours. Check your matched count in Audience Manager once processing completes.

  • Match rates will be lower than LinkedIn or Meta — this is normal for Reddit. Focus on the matched audience count, not the percentage.

Keeping Your Audience Updated

Since Reddit sync is currently manual, re-export and re-upload when your ContactLevel audience changes significantly. A good cadence is to refresh your Reddit audience whenever you add a meaningful batch of new contacts.

Setting Up Tracking for Reddit Campaigns

  1. Install your ContactLevel tracking pixel on your website

  2. Copy your audience's cl_audience parameter

  3. Add the cl_audience parameter directly to each Reddit ad's destination URL (see Adding UTM Params to Reddit Ad Campaigns)

  • Test ICP-only audiences vs. ICP + subreddit filters to find the best approach

  • Use "awareness" or "traffic" campaign objectives to maximize reach across your audience

  • Let Reddit's algorithm optimize delivery across engaged communities
